The self-titled debut album "Captain Beyond" on CD presents one of the most inventive hard rock records of the early 1970s. Combining heavy riffs, psychedelic textures, progressive song structures and seamless track transitions, this album stands out as a cohesive, flowing listening experience rather than a simple collection of songs. Complex rhythm changes, fluid guitar work and atmospheric vocals create a cosmic, almost space-rock feel that rewards repeated listening. The CD format offers clear, dynamic sound that highlights the intricate arrangements and the tight interplay of the band members, making this edition an ideal way to (re)discover the album in full.
Captain Beyond, the band, is a cult name in 70s rock, featuring former members of established rock groups of that era. Known for their musicianship and adventurous songwriting, they earned a dedicated following among fans of hard rock and early progressive rock. Their work, particularly this debut, has long been praised for its originality and its influence on later bands exploring heavy, progressive and psychedelic sounds.
The manufacturer Capricorn is associated with the classic rock era and known for releasing and supporting artists that pushed the boundaries of rock, southern rock and related styles. Their catalogue is appreciated by collectors and enthusiasts for its focus on authentic, musician-driven recordings. With this CD edition of "Captain Beyond", Capricorn continues its tradition of presenting important and often underrated rock milestones in a high-quality audio format.

Absolutely awesome album ! Rod Evans on vocals Larry Reinhardt on guitar, Lee Dorman on bass and Bobby Caldwel on drums playing the great heavy rock music. Worth to listen for all Deep Purple fans.

Igor V. - 28/May/2017 4 of 5 Stars!
I was very interested to listen to the debut album of a supergroup made up of participants Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, Johnny Winter Group. Since I listened to this album for the first time, there was no special relation to it. I heard a solid hard rock, with a touch of progress. The performance is at a very high level, which is not surprising, judging by the musical experience of the band members. However, the music is rather poor and one-dimensional. No comparison with the albums of Deep Purple.
