Description:This is Fred's follow up recording to Gravity, which has been perhaps his most enduringly popular record. Fred made Gravity after he had re-located to New York, and had become a key figure in the downtown improvising scene. The new album fused the influences of the US and Europe, and is still regarded as one of his finest works. Much of the material was recorded in Switzerland and France in 1980, using musicians from Rock In Opposition band Etron Fou Leloublan. It is also suffused with the sounds of New York.
Comes in digipak. Track 1 to 5 recorded July/August 1980 at Studio Freeson, Pujaut, France and Sunrise Studios, Kirchenberg, Switzerland. The tapes used on tracks 1 to 5 were recorded in New York City at street fairs, demonstrations, and, along with the bagpipes, in Washington Square Park. Tracks 6 to 13 recorded July/August 1980 at Sunrise. Tracks 7, 10 and the end of track 8 are based on live concert recordings of an extended version of Massacre at CBGB in New York, April 1980. They were subsequently altered and added to in Switzerland. 12 is from the same concert and is an improvised piece heard as played. Originally released as an LP by Ralph Records (cat. #: FF 8106) in 1981. Error in the printed credits: ?Asha & Storm: singing (6)? - The right credit is track 5.
