 | | Description: | Migrant by The Dear Hunter, released 30 April 2013, includes the following tracks: "Shame", "Shouting At The Rain", "Girl", "Sweet Naivete" and more.
This version of Migrant comes as a 1xCD. - 2013 release, the fifth album from this Indie band led by Casey Crescendo, formerly of Post-Hardcore outfit the Receiving End of Sirens. The Dear Hunter recorded Migrant earlier this year at Vu Du Studios in Long Island, NY with producer Mike Watts, after almost two years supporting their critically acclaimed 36-track collection: The Color Spectrum. Prior to the Color Spectrum, The Dear Hunter also embarked on another concept project - a six album series chronicling the story of a boy at the turn of the century only referred to as The Dear Hunter (Acts I - III currently released). While Migrant takes a departure from the band's previous use of an overarching concept, it remains true to their signature grandiose sound, fueled by Crescendo's soulful vocals.Packed in a Digipak case"Migrant" is a studio album by the progressive rock band The Dear Hunter, presented here in the classic CD format and released via the independent label Equal Vision. Musically, the record moves between art rock, indie, and orchestral pop, with richly arranged songs that highlight emotional storytelling and dynamic shifts from quiet, intimate passages to powerful, full-band climaxes. Characteristic for The Dear Hunter are multi-layered vocal harmonies, thoughtful lyrics, and a cinematic production style, all of which are strongly present on "Migrant". The album offers a self-contained song collection rather than a rock opera, making it an ideal entry point both for long-time fans and for listeners discovering the band for the first time.
Lyrically, "Migrant" revolves around themes of searching, identity, and inner restlessness, capturing moments of doubt and hope in equal measure. The carefully balanced tracklist guides the listener through a series of emotional high points and reflective interludes, with memorable melodies and detailed arrangements that reward repeated listening. Acoustic elements, strings, and keyboard textures interweave with guitar-driven sections to create a dense, atmospheric sound that nevertheless remains accessible. Thanks to the clear, dynamic mix, every instrument finds its place, emphasizing the narrative quality of the music.
The Dear Hunter, founded by musician and songwriter Casey Crescenzo, has made a name for itself with conceptually ambitious releases and stylistically diverse albums. The band is particularly known for its extensive "Act" series, which blends progressive rock, indie, and orchestral elements into a coherent narrative universe and has attracted a dedicated international fanbase. With records that often explore complex musical structures while remaining melodic and emotional, The Dear Hunter has become an influential name within modern progressive and alternative rock circles, regularly earning critical acclaim and cultivating an active touring presence.
