"Nonsuch" is one of XTC's most sophisticated and fully realized studio albums, presented here in the CD format by the independent reissue label Rykodisc. The record showcases the band's hallmark blend of intelligent songwriting, richly layered arrangements and inventive pop craftsmanship. Across its tracks, "Nonsuch" moves confidently between guitar-driven alternative rock, finely textured pop and touches of baroque and pastoral influences; melodies are memorable yet subtly complex, while the lyrics delve into personal reflection, sharp social observation and understated humor. This CD edition offers the album in high sound quality and is aimed at listeners who appreciate carefully constructed albums that reward repeated, attentive listening rather than background consumption.

The CD format of "Nonsuch" is ideal for collectors and audiophiles who value a physical, durable medium with consistent sound fidelity. Packaged for easy archiving in any CD library, this edition is designed for fans who want to own a tangible version of this key entry in XTC's discography rather than relying solely on streaming services. It is equally suited for long-time admirers of the band and for newcomers who want to discover one of their most mature and accessible works in a complete, album-oriented form.

XTC are an English band known for their evolution from energetic new wave and post-punk into intricate, studio-focused pop and rock. Over the course of their career, they released a string of critically acclaimed albums and crafted numerous cult-favorite songs, steadily building a reputation for sophisticated songwriting, strong melodic sense and inventive production. Their work has influenced many later alternative and indie artists, and they are often cited as one of the most respected and enduring bands to emerge from the late 1970s new wave scene.

Rykodisc is known primarily as a label specializing in high-quality CD releases and catalog titles, with a focus on presenting important albums in a durable, collector-friendly format. With this "Nonsuch" CD edition, Rykodisc continues its tradition of giving influential artists and albums a carefully produced physical home, appealing to listeners who seek well-curated, long-lasting releases rather than disposable media.

HYUNG RAE K. - 20/Apr/2024 4 of 5 Stars!
One of XTC's best records, well one of my favorites anyway. Fantastic, melodic, powerful songwriting of the finest caliber. If the singles don't win you over, maybe the deeper cuts will. I especially like the bonus addition of Didn't Hurt A Bit, one of my favorite Colin Moulding songs.
