Phyllis McGuire, Dan Blocker, Frank Sinatra, Lee J. Cobb, Barbara Rush, Jill St. John, Molly Picon, Tony Bill Bud Yorkin |
 | | Description: | Frank Sinatra plays Alan Baker, a bachelor-about-town who has it all - more girls than he can handle, a kid brother (Tony Bill) who worships him and a disapproving father (Lee J. Cobb). Based on Neil Simon's (The Odd Couple) first Broadway hit, adapted by Norman Lear (All in the Family). Sinatra, a swinger supreme, uses his New York apartment as a harem of sorts for his legion of lady friends. Frank's brother, wishing to break loose from his protective parents moves in with him, hoping to emulate his sibling in the sex department. The cast includes Hollywood beauties, Barbara Rush and Jill St. John and in the un-credited role of Wino, Dean Martin. Directed by Bud Yorkin (Start the Revolution Without Me)."Come Blow Your Horn" is a classic 1963 comedy based on Neil Simon's first stage play, brought to home video in this DVD edition from Olive Films. The film follows Alan Baker, a carefree bachelor living in Manhattan, whose luxurious apartment, constant stream of dates and easygoing lifestyle become the ultimate dream for his younger brother Buddy. When Buddy escapes the strict, old-fashioned home of their parents to move in with Alan, the clash between conservative family values and swinging bachelor life leads to a series of witty, heartfelt and often chaotic situations. Blending sharp dialogue with warm character moments, the film explores themes of growing up, independence, family expectations and the search for one's own identity in a changing world.
This DVD presentation by Olive Films focuses on an authentic film experience, preserving the original look and feel of the era. Olive Films is an American label known among film enthusiasts for its dedication to catalog and classic cinema, often rescuing important titles from obscurity and making them available again in solid, straightforward releases that respect the original materials. Collectors appreciate Olive for focusing on the film itself rather than heavy re-edits or intrusive modernizations, and for building a library that ranges from major studio classics to lesser-known gems.
"Come Blow Your Horn" brings together an impressive cast and key creative figures. The film stars Frank Sinatra, one of the most iconic entertainers of the 20th century, whose career spanned legendary music recordings, concerts and acclaimed film work, including "From Here to Eternity" and "The Man with the Golden Arm." Opposite him appears a strong ensemble of supporting players from the period, contributing to the film's blend of comedy and emotional nuance. The screenplay is adapted from Neil Simon's play; Simon would go on to become one of the most successful and widely performed American playwrights of the modern era, known for hits such as "The Odd Couple," "Barefoot in the Park" and "The Sunshine Boys." His hallmark mix of sharp humor and human insight is already visible in this early work, making the film an important piece in understanding his later success. This DVD from Olive Films is therefore both a charming, entertaining comedy and a noteworthy item for fans of classic Hollywood stars, stage-to-screen adaptations and carefully curated catalog releases. | | | Actors: |
