Description:Alto saxophonist Jim Snidero brings the sum total of his experiences to the fore on Main Street, including those as a leader as well as a sideman with Frank Wess, the Mingus Big Band, Jack McDuff, and Toshiko Akiyoshi. Here he draws upon a quarter-century of touring experiences for a trip through some of the American experience via a cycle of new compositions and two covers. With bassist Linda Oh, drummer Rudy Royston and Cuban pianist Fabian Almazan, Main Street offers fresh original material, imaginative arrangements, inspired soloing, and cohesive yet spontaneous group interaction.
Recorded on July 25, 2014.
"Main Street" is an album on CD by acclaimed alto saxophonist and composer Jim Snidero, released on the independent jazz label Savant. The recording captures Snidero's mature, narrative style: soulful melodies, harmonically rich improvisations and a modern post-bop aesthetic rooted in the tradition. Across the tracks, he combines lyrical ballads with swinging, up-tempo numbers, focusing on clear song structures and memorable themes that balance accessibility with artistic depth. The CD is aimed at listeners who appreciate contemporary acoustic jazz with a strong sense of melody, interplay and emotional storytelling. High-quality recording and a transparent mix highlight the nuances of the ensemble, making the disc suitable both for focused listening and relaxed enjoyment.

Deutsch Herbert E. - 30/Mar/2015 5 of 5 Stars!
