"Psycho Tropical Berlin" is the debut LP by La Femme, a French band that fuses cold wave, surf rock, psychedelic pop and electronic elements into a unique, cinematic sound. Across its tracks, the album oscillates between hypnotic synth lines, driving bass, reverb-drenched guitars and airy, often mysterious vocals, evoking a nocturnal, urban atmosphere with a distinctly retro-futurist edge. The record feels like a journey through an imaginary, slightly twisted version of Paris and Berlin, where 60s yé-yé aesthetics meet post-punk energy and modern indie production. "Psycho Tropical Berlin" has been widely regarded as a key statement of the contemporary French indie scene and has significantly raised the profile of La Femme beyond their home country. La Femme have emerged as one of the most distinctive bands of their generation in France, known for their playful genre-blending and strong visual identity. With infectious live performances and a string of well-received releases, they have built an international following and played important festivals and venues, helping to carry French-language alternative pop to a broader audience. The LP is released by Born Bad / Cargo. Born Bad is an independent French label recognized for championing adventurous, often retro-tinged underground sounds--from garage rock and synth-wave to experimental pop--frequently spotlighting artists that sit outside the mainstream. The label has been instrumental in shaping a vibrant alternative scene by giving unconventional acts a professional platform. Cargo handles distribution, bringing these niche yet influential records to a wider network of stores and listeners. Together, Born Bad / Cargo ensure that "Psycho Tropical Berlin" is presented with care to audiophile vinyl collectors and fans of cutting-edge, unconventional pop. | | | No. of tracks: |
