"A Change Of Seasons" is a seminal EP by progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater, presented here in CD format by the renowned label Elektra. The centerpiece is the monumental title track "A Change Of Seasons," a multi-part, suite-like composition that stretches over 20 minutes and takes the listener on a journey through shifting moods, complex time signatures and powerful thematic development. Combining virtuoso instrumental work, emotional lyrics and dynamic contrasts ranging from delicate acoustic passages to explosive, riff-driven climaxes, this release captures Dream Theater at a peak of creativity and technical mastery. In addition to the epic main track, the CD typically includes carefully selected live cover versions that pay homage to the band's influences and underline their musical breadth. The production is clear, spacious and detailed, allowing each instrument--from thunderous drums and intricate bass lines to soaring guitars, keyboards and vocals--to shine and to reveal new nuances with every listen.

Dream Theater rank among the most influential bands in progressive metal, known for fusing the complexity of classic progressive rock with the intensity of heavy metal. Since their international breakthrough with the album "Images and Words" and the hit single "Pull Me Under," they have built a loyal global fan base and a reputation for extraordinary musicianship, long-form compositions and concept albums. Their work has repeatedly entered international charts and earned them a status as one of the genre's definitive live and studio acts, especially praised for their extended instrumental passages and boundary-pushing song structures. "A Change Of Seasons" is often cited as one of their quintessential tracks, embodying the emotional depth and technical brilliance that have made the band a reference point in progressive music.

Elektra, the manufacturer and label behind this release, is a long-established company with a strong history in rock and alternative music. Known for discovering and promoting innovative artists, Elektra has helped shape the sound of several decades of popular music by investing in high-quality productions and artist-driven projects. Their releases are associated with careful mastering, solid manufacturing standards and a catalog that includes numerous influential rock and metal titles. With "A Change Of Seasons," Elektra once more demonstrates its commitment to ambitious, artistically demanding music, offering collectors and fans a durable CD edition that does justice to the complexity and dynamics of Dream Theater's sound.

Eugene S. - 06/Sep/2024 5 of 5 Stars!
The first EP by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, first released on September 19, 1995. Although the record is labeled as an EP, its running time of 57:30 makes it significantly longer than a standard EP, and even many LPs, including Dream Theater's first two albums. I recommend.

WAN MOHD HAIRI W. - 26/Nov/2020 5 of 5 Stars!
This actually not full album but an E.P with 6 track. It's running time of 57:30 makes it significantly longer than a standard EP. The title track A Change of A seasons comprises with 23-minute long. Other five song was actually a cover song! so i'm enjoy the album and give it five star.

new keyboardist " derek serinian" plays all songs. 1st song " A Change of Season is really good song" other song is cover version of old rock group - led zeppelin, pink floyd etc.

Maximiliano S. - 25/Oct/2017 4 of 5 Stars!
Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection. There are only five tracks but with a total time that approaches an hour anyway.

ANTONIO M. - 11/Sep/2015 5 of 5 Stars!
One of Dream Theater's masterpieces - Change of Seasons - which is for many fans of the band the best music they composed in almost 30 years of activity, names this album that also includes some well played and groovy covers from bands like Queen or Pink Floyd.
