Auf der Leinwand verewigt, begründete der bahnbrechende Auftritt von Ten Years After mit ''I'm Going Home'' in Woodstock ihren Ruf als Stra�enkämpfer, die in der Lage waren, gro�e Menschenmengen mitzurei�en, wie die 400.000 Festivalbesucher, die von Alvin Lees wei�em Blitz auf seiner knallroten Gibson ES-335 fasziniert waren. "I'm Going Home" konnte auch einen so kleinen Raum wie das Klooks Kleek in London zum Leuchten bringen, wie auf ihrem zweiten Album "Undead" von 1968 zu hören ist. Aber obwohl es die erste Aufnahme des Songs war (mit Drähten aus den Decca Studios nebenan, um ihn aufzunehmen), kam er kaum aus dem Nichts. Alvin Lee und Bassist Leo Lyons lernten bereits 1962 bei ihren Auftritten mit den Jaybirds in Hamburg, wie wichtig ausgedehntes Jammen ist, und nicht lange nachdem sie begonnen hatten, Gene Vincents "I'm Going Home (To See My Baby)" in Ten Years After zu covern, wurde der Song zu etwas völlig Neuem umgearbeitet. Genauer gesagt: zerlegt, neu lackiert, umgebaut und umgerüstet zu einem Drag-Racer, der noch jahrelang die Massen begeistern sollte. "Undead" war der erste aufgezeichnete Beweis für dieses Live-Vermächtnis. Das Album enthält die fünf besten Songs des Sets vom 14. Mai 1968 und zeigt die Band beim langen bluesigen Jammen mit 'I May Be Wrong, But I Won't Be Wrong Always', 'Spider in My Web' und wie sie Gershwin bei 'Summertime/Shantung Cabbage' in die Knie zwingt (mit freundlicher Genehmigung von Schlagzeuger Ric Lee). Und bei einer Killer-Coverversion von "(At the) Woodchopper's Ball" ist der jazzige Blues der Band hei� genug, um Woody Hermans Klassiker in Sägemehl zu verwandeln, wobei Alvin Lee und Organist Chick Churchill Soli austauschen. "Undead" gilt zu Recht als eines der besten Live-Alben seiner �ra und wird hier in seinem seltenen Mono-Mix von den Original-Mastern aus Gro�britannien neu aufgelegt.
