 | | Description: | Still Here is an album by Beasts, released in 2019.
The garage album is available in the following configurations:
- LP
- Vinyl LP pressing. After an extremely emotional final performance with the Beasts of Bourbon, Tex Perkins hit upon the idea of getting all of the band's members, past and present, into a recording studio with no particular agenda. It was more of a celebratory thing he had in mind than anything else. Sadly, bassist Brian Hooper didn't make it along as he passed away a week after the Beasts last show. Assembled in Soundpark Studio a couple of weeks later were Charlie Owen, Boris Sujdovic, Tony Pola, Spencer Jones, Kim Salmon, and Tex.This album is dedicated to [a284355] and [a=Spencer P. Jones].
Recorded at Soundpark studios Melbourne by Andrew "Idge" Hehir [typo on sleeve displays as "Hehi.r"]
Mixed by Idge and The Beasts.
Additional mixing and mastering by Richard Stolz at Woodstock studios.
Sleeve designed by Peter Barrett @Hoof.net.au
Thanks to Ninevah Hooper and Angie Louise Jones for taking such good care of our departed Beasts.
Issued in a gatefold sleeve."Still Here" is a powerful LP by The Beasts that captures the raw, unpolished spirit of Australian rock in its most direct and unfiltered form. Across the record, snarling guitars, pounding rhythms and a lived-in, whiskey-stained voice collide to create songs that feel both feral and deeply human. The album moves between mid-tempo, blues-drenched stompers and furious, almost punk-like eruptions, always driven by a sense of urgency and emotional honesty. Lyrically, "Still Here" circles around themes of survival, loss, anger, black humour and stubborn resilience - a band looking back on a hard road travelled, yet refusing to give in. The production keeps everything close to the bone: you hear the room, the amps, the imperfections - all the things that make a rock'n'roll record feel alive rather than polished. For fans of uncompromising guitar music with heart, this LP plays like a last stand and a defiant celebration at the same time.
The Beasts (often associated with the legendary Australian underground rock landscape) are known for their rough-edged mix of blues, pub rock and punk attitude. Over the years, the musicians involved in The Beasts have built a reputation for intense live shows and records that prioritise feel over perfection. Their work has had a lasting influence on fans of rough, emotional rock from Australia and beyond, helping to define a distinctly Australian take on gritty guitar music. "Still Here" fits seamlessly into that legacy, sounding like a band who has seen it all and continues to channel that experience into loud, cathartic songs.
The LP is released by Bang! Records, distributed by Cargo - an independent constellation that has long been associated with passionate catalogues of garage rock, punk, noise, alternative and other guitar-driven sounds. Bang! / Cargo have gained recognition among collectors and connoisseurs for carefully curated releases, often shining a light on bands and albums that operate outside the mainstream but are treasured in underground circles. With "Still Here", they once again underline their commitment to honest, powerful rock music, presenting the album in a format that does justice to its raw energy: as a full-blooded vinyl experience. | | | Manufacturer No.: |
