Description:Hymns From The Deep is an album by Khazad-Dum, released in 2020. Hymns From The Deep includes a.o. the following tracks: â??Stone Of Sorrowâ?, â??The Forsaken Palaceâ?, â??Mountainous Structuresâ?, â??Monstrous Fleshâ? and more. The album is a black metal CD. -
HYMNS FROM THE DEEP IS AN EXPLORATION OF THE DARK DEPTHS OF MORIA FROM J.R.R. TOLKIEN'S VENERATED THE LORD OF THE RINGS. The lyrics are one long epic poem written by Mervyn Evans, based on the chapter 'The Bridge of Khazad Dum' from the Fellowship of the Ring. This spans across the tracks of the album which musically draws influence from funeral doom, death metal, black metal and dark ambient. All music and instrumental performances come from Daniel Scrivener with Matthew Surry channeling the voice of the Balrog to complete the project. This is cavernous and foreboding funeral doom that is highly recommended to fans of EVOKEN, THE RUINS OF BEVERAST, ESOTERIC.
Issued in a standard jewel case with a black tray and 4-page booklet [Back] ©&? I Hate RECORDS
"Hymns From The Deep" is a CD release by the band Khazad Dum, issued by the underground label I Hate Records. Musically, this album moves in the realm of slow, heavy, and cavernous doom metal, with long compositions that build an oppressive yet hypnotic atmosphere. The sound is dominated by massive, dragging guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and deep, echoing vocals that evoke images of subterranean worlds and ancient darkness. Each track unfolds gradually, favoring tension, repetition, and emotional weight over speed, making this CD ideal for listeners who appreciate immersive and uncompromising extreme metal.

Lyrically and conceptually, "Hymns From The Deep" focuses on themes of depth, gloom, and mythic or fantastical imagery. The songs often feel like rites or incantations, emphasizing mood and narrative rather than simple verse-chorus structures. The production preserves a raw, organic edge that keeps the music intense and authentic, while still allowing enough clarity to fully experience the layers of guitars, bass, and vocals. This is not background music; it is an album designed to be absorbed in full, from the first rumble of the opening track to the final fading echoes.

Khazad Dum is a band deeply rooted in the traditions of doom and extreme metal, drawing inspiration from the genre's most atmospheric and monolithic expressions. Known for their dedication to slow tempos, crushing tone, and a distinctly subterranean aesthetic, they appeal to fans who seek depth and darkness rather than instant hooks. Their work resonates particularly with listeners who appreciate long-form compositions and a strong sense of place and mood in heavy music. With "Hymns From The Deep", Khazad Dum further solidify their status as a cult act for connoisseurs of the heaviest and most atmospheric doom metal.

I Hate Records is a specialized label devoted to underground metal, with a strong focus on doom and related subgenres. The label is known for supporting uncompromising artists, carefully curating a catalog that prioritizes authenticity, artistic integrity, and a passion for heavy music over commercial trends. With releases like "Hymns From The Deep", I Hate Records continues to serve as a home for bands that value atmosphere, weight, and individuality, offering fans high-quality physical editions and a reliable source for discovering obscure and powerful metal acts.
