Formentera, benannt nach einer idyllischen Insel in der Nähe von Ibiza vor der spanischen Küste,
ist ein Ort, der für Metric nur auf einer Seite in einem Reisebuch mit Traumzielen" existierte, das
aufgeschlagen auf einem Schreibtisch in dem neuen Aufnahmestudio lag, das Gitarrist Jimmy
Shaw 2020 in einem ländlichen Weiler nördlich von Toronto baute. In dieser Umgebung nahm das
achte Album der Band Gestalt an.
Der Sound von Metric ist sowohl genreübergreifend als auch genredefinierend. Emily Haines,
Jimmy Shaw, Bassist Joshua Winstead und Schlagzeuger Joules Scott Key begannen 2001 in
New York City zusammen zu spielen. - 2022 album from the Canadian alt-rock band. Formentera is the follow-up to their 2018 album Art of Doubt. Named for an idyllic island near Ibiza off the coast of Spain, Formentera is a place that, for Metric, only existed on a page in a "dream destinations" travel book that lay open on a desk in the new recording studio that guitarist Jimmy Shaw built in 2020, in a rural hamlet north of Toronto.
