Die in London lebende Gina Birch begann ihre bewegte Musikkarriere 1977, als sie zusammen mit ihrer Kommilitonin Ana da Silva, die an der Hornsey School of Art studierte, die feministische Punkband The Raincoats gründete. The Raincoats hatten schnell eine gro�e und treue Fangemeinde und Unterstützer, darunter Red Krayola, Swell Maps und Geoff Travis und sein neues Plattenlabel Rough Trade.
Gina ist ebenfalls eine angesehene Malerin und eine gefeierte Filmemacherin und Videoregisseurin (sie führte Regie bei Videos für The Libertines und New Order, um nur einige zu nennen). Sie hat au�erdem die Band Dorothy and The Hangovers gegründet und ist deren Frontfrau.
Im Februar 2023 wird Third Man Ginas brandneues und erstes Solo-Album, "I Play My Bass Loud", veröffentlichen, das von Martin "Youth" Glover von Killing Joke aufgenommen wurde und auf dem Thurston Moore von Sonic Youth zu hören ist. - 2023 release, the debut solo album from the founding member of iconic British band The Raincoats. Gina is a respected painter, a celebrated filmmaker and video director. In September of 2021, Gina released her first ever solo single, "Feminist Song", on Third Man Records in celebration of the opening of their brand new London location. I Play My Bass Loud was recorded by Martin "Youth" Glover from Killing Joke and featuring Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth. |
