 | | Description: | Gorguts - From Wisdom To HateFrom Wisdom to Hate is the fourth album by Canadian death metal legends Gorguts, released on March 6, 2001 through Olympic Recordings and Season of Mist. Musically build a bridge between the previous album "Obscura" and the older albums "Considered Dead" and "The Erosion of Sanity". This is the only Gorguts album to feature drummer Steve MacDonald. MacDonald had a history of recurrent depression and committed suicide in 2002, which eventually led to the break-up of Gorguts in 2005. More than 20 years after it's first release, the album is now available again on CD. - re-release of the 2001 classic of Canadian death metal legends. Still a neckbreaker after more than 20 years! Must have!"From Wisdom To Hate (Digi)" is a CD edition of the highly regarded full-length album by Canadian death metal innovators Gorguts, released here in a refined digipak format. Musically, the record stands as a bridge between the band's early, brutal technical death metal roots and their later, more abstract and dissonant explorations. Expect twisted riff structures, complex but purposeful song arrangements and a dark, oppressive atmosphere that rewards repeated listens. The production emphasizes clarity without sacrificing heaviness, allowing the intricate guitar work, dynamic drumming and cavernous vocals to unfold in full detail. Lyrically and sonically, "From Wisdom To Hate (Digi)" delves into themes of decay, transcendence and philosophical reflection, making it a demanding yet deeply immersive listening experience for extreme metal connoisseurs.
Gorguts are considered one of the most influential bands in technical and avant-garde death metal. Emerging from the Canadian scene in the early 1990s, they quickly gained a reputation for pushing genre boundaries through complex compositions and an unmistakably dark, experimental aesthetic. Over the years, their discography has become a point of reference for countless younger bands seeking to combine brutality with intellectual depth, and their work is frequently cited in discussions of the most important and forward-thinking death metal albums of all time. With "From Wisdom To Hate (Digi)" they reaffirm their status as pioneers who continuously challenge and expand the possibilities of extreme music.
This edition is released by MDD Records, a label known for its dedication to metal in all its stylistic varieties, from classic heavy and power metal to the more extreme ends of death and black metal.
