 | | Description: | Kate performed on Austin City Limits in 1985 at the height of her career, just a few months before she was diagnosed with acute leukemia. It was her first major television exposure, and a great success. The show was edited for PBS and broadcast frequently the following years. Accompanied by her long-time band members Nina Gerber and Ford James, Kate delivered a strong performance that remained faithful to her Northern California folk style. The release of "An Evening in Austin" is a continuance of Kate's music. Although she is gone, Kate has left a collection of songs and performances that share innermost thoughts through imagery of life that will be with us for years to come. This concert recording captures Kate's intimate performing style, and we proudly present it as a memorial to her."Evening In Austin" is a DVD release from Owl Records that captures an intimate musical performance set against the unique atmosphere of Austin, Texas. The film focuses on live interpretations of songs in a warm, evening club setting, highlighting the interplay between musicians, audience, and the city's characteristic music culture. With careful camerawork and clear sound, this DVD is designed for viewers who appreciate authentic performance moments rather than overproduced spectacle, offering an immersive "you are there" feeling in the living room.
Owl Records is known primarily as a music-oriented label that specializes in capturing performances with a strong emphasis on atmosphere and sound integrity. The company is characterized by a curatorial approach that favors artistically coherent projects and attentive production, rather than mass-market releases. With "Evening In Austin," Owl Records continues this line by presenting a work that foregrounds the live experience and respects the dynamics of the performance as it unfolded.
The cast, director, and other notable contributors on this title are presented as experienced professionals from the live-music and concert-film environment. Their careers are marked by repeated involvement in projects that bring concert stages to film and home video, contributing to the broader appreciation of live performance as an art form in its own right. Within "Evening In Austin," their work is visible in the fluid pacing, the sensitive treatment of the performers on stage, and the overall coherence of sound and image that makes the evening's performance the clear centerpiece of the DVD. | | | No. of tracks: |
