 | | Description: | British pop-soul group The Blow Monkeys have announced they will release their 13th studio album â??Birdsongâ?? on 15th August 2025, followed by a ten-date UK tour in October. The albumâ??s release will be the first since the group signed to Creation Youth, the new label launched by Alan McGee - the Creation Records founder who famously signed artists like Oasis, Primal Scream and My Bloody Valentine â?? and producer and Killing Joke bassist Martin â??Youthâ?? Glover. Recorded at Paul Wellerâ??s Black Barn Studios in Surrey and produced by Dr Robert, The Blow Monkeysâ?? lead singer Robert Howard (aka Dr Robert) is backed throughout Birdsongâ??s ten-tracks by fellow founding members Neville Henry (sax), Mick Anker (bass), with Crispin Taylor on drums and additional musicians such as Mick Talbot , Gina Foster and Steve Sidelnyk. After making their debut over 40 years ago, The Blow Monkeys became household names when classic singles â??Digging Your Sceneâ?? and â??It Doesnâ??t Have To Be This Wayâ?? became worldwide hits and their cover of Leslie Goreâ??s 1963 song â??You Donâ??t Own Meâ?? featured on the biggest selling soundtrack of all time, â??Dirty Dancingâ??. But there was always so much more going on with these soulful troubadours, with them possessing a relentless desire to move forward, collaborate, to be socially engaged and to have something to contribute. Back in the â??80s they worked with people as varied as Curtis Mayfield, Paul Weller, Cheb Khaled and even Jamaican Toaster EEK-a-Mouse.
