 | | Description: | Rap duo Havoc and Prodigy aka Mobb Deep from Queensbridge, Queens, New York returned in 2001 with their 5th album. Resurfacing, after recording Murda Muzik , this time they approached the rap-scene differently, moving away from the minimalistic stripped-down heavy violence hip/hop.
Center of attention during the release of Infamy was the beef between Jay-Z and Prodigy. During the time of release Prodigy (of Mobb Deep) had been the center of Jay-Z's attack on his track "The Takeover" and Mobb Deep cut the track "Crawlin" where Prodigy strikes back on Jay-Z calling him "H to the know". Tracks like "The Learning (Burn)" featuring Noyd, "Kill That Nigga" and productions from Scott Storch (Dr. Dre/Nas/50 Cent) for "Live Foul" still display the dark beats and straight-up street rhymes Mobb Deep are known for. The first single of the album was the track "Hey Luv" featuring R&B group 112. - ?+© 2001 Loud Records, LLC

CD has CD-Text."Infamy" is a CD album by the influential Queensbridge hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, released under the major label Epic. This record captures the group in a phase of artistic consolidation, combining their trademark dark, atmospheric sound with a more polished and accessible production. Lyrically, "Infamy" moves between street narratives, reflections on loyalty, and the tensions of success, delivered with the cold precision and gritty realism that made Mobb Deep one of the defining East Coast rap acts. The beats are built on heavy drums, looming basslines and moody samples, creating a dense soundscape that perfectly frames the duo's tense, razor-sharp flows. As a CD release, "Infamy" offers a coherent listening experience from start to finish, with sequencing that reinforces its cinematic, nocturnal mood.
Mobb Deep, formed by Prodigy and Havoc, are among the most respected names in 1990s and early-2000s hip-hop. They became legendary with hard-hitting, uncompromising albums and are especially known for their classic work that defined the gritty New York sound of their era. Their skillful interplay - Havoc's ominous, minimalist production and Prodigy's distinctive, ice-cold voice and storytelling - has influenced generations of artists on both sides of the Atlantic. "Infamy" shows the duo evolving without abandoning their roots, balancing hard-edged tracks with more melodic and reflective moments, and demonstrating why they remain a reference point for serious hip-hop listeners.
Epic, the label behind this CD edition, is a long-established major record company known for its diverse and high-profile artist roster across pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop. Releases on Epic typically benefit from strong production values and careful presentation, and "Infamy" is no exception: from the sound quality to the packaging, the CD underlines the professional standards associated with a major label release. For fans of authentic New York rap with atmospheric beats and intense lyricism, this Epic-released CD of "Infamy" is a compelling addition to any collection. | | | No. of tracks: |
